Today I ran into Steve Chung. Who the heck knew that guy was still around? Steve's an old friend from way back in the day. Our families used to do a bunch of random crap like go to Yosemite and what not. But after his family moved to who knows where, I hardly ever saw the dude. I knew he attended Berkeley, but I didn't really see much of him over the past four years and I had forgotten that he even existed.

Anyway, I only saw him in passing and we exchanged a few words. It went something like this:

Alex: What the heck you still doing here, man?

Steve: Dude, what are you still doing here?

And then we chit-chatted for a few more seconds.

Sadly, I don't really know Steve anymore, but the memories that I have about this guy... Man, the memories! It brought a smile to my face... I seriously annoyed this guy to the max when we were kids. To this day, I don't know how that guy ever put up with me. He was a different guy back then and so was I. He was a pretty skinny guy back then, and a little on the "pissed-off-with-the-world" side. I was a rotund little kid eager to cause as much innocent mischief as I could. I don't think he ever really liked to hang out with me, but because our families did so much crap together, he was stuck with me.

When I saw the guy today, the dude was straight up fat. Hahaha... I can only say it because it's the truth. The guy had put on so much weight since our childhood days. Anyway, the important thing is that the guy had changed for the better. I can't explain it, but I knew just by looking at him that he had undergone some huge transformation. I was happy for him.

It's funny because when you look back to those days and you think about them in the present, you realize your perspective about events and people has changed dramatically. The experiences that were not so exciting or important in the past are the fond memories of today. The people that you seemingly left behind surprisingly still hold a special place in your heart.

Maybe in a couple of years, I'll look back on this big mess I like to call my college experience, and I'll have a hearty good laugh.

Heck, I'm laughing right now... Hahaha...
